About Ms. Malone
I am thrilled to be teaching sixth grade at Montecito Union School! I began my career as an attorney, but ultimately discovered that I am happier in the classroom than in the courtroom. I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master's Degree in Education from UCSB in June 2014. I taught in the Hope School District for three years, including one year in sixth grade at Vieja Valley School and two years in second grade at Monte Vista School.
I was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Maryland, but have lived in California for the last twenty-four years. I love camping, hiking, tide-pooling, spending time with my family and our dogs, and reading. My favorite genre is autobiographies, especially memoirs of scientists. I also love reading short stories.
I want my students to feel comfortable exploring, taking risks, challenging themselves, and developing into kind, curious and responsible individuals along the way. My job as a teacher is to foster a classroom environment that supports this growth.
